Human sensory capabilities can be augmented by sensory experiences not native to humans including: those which occur in animals, those made possible from our technological enhancements, and in the future, those which will result from AI, bioengineering, bio-mechanical hybrids, and ultimately from machines that will be created by machines.
This multi-component sensory apparatus system — our extended sensorium, is the mechanism through which our universe experiences itself. As human technology advances we will become able to connect to our extended sensorium in increasingly useful, satisfying, and even profound ways.
We have already been interfacing with the non-human part of our extended sensorium since the dawn of humanity.
